I decided not to label my jewelry with the categories "for Women or for Men". Today we have the freedom to choose how we feel deep in our core. My necklaces are unisex. Choose the one that represents you most, the one that you see more like the special you.
Childhood deprivation and abuse are far too common in our world. When love and nurturing are lacking, children don’t give up, they wait. The waiting is deep inside, a silent, hidden yearning, too often judged when it appears on the surface. With adulthood, where do we find the complete, unconditional devotion that should have been? Mrs. Civitella, in her Jewelry, gives a lovely answer. Only the adult self can really come fully to understand and care for the hurt child within. Resolution comes when we accept that no outsider can take away pain from long ago. Only the loving adult self can give the gift of compassion and healing, embodied here as a constant, physical reminder that the wait is over.
The founder of The Healing Mother is an accomplished artist and jewelry designer. The idea for these pieces came after years of self-reflection, difficult internal work and rigorous self examination to come to the point of forgiveness and self love. The piece is meant to be a daily reminder for the wearer to both nurture and appreciate the pain of early life and to love that person as she/he may not have been loved at the time. Liberation from holding onto what has happened in one's early life becomes a gift that this beautiful piece will free to all that own one.
